Description

The PCM-1000 evaluates performances of proppants used in fracture enhancement projects. Using the system, short-term proppant pack conductivity can be measured at various closure pressures and temperatures conditions. The experiment consists of displacing a temperature regulated brine fluid through a proppant pack compressed by two identical, flat, parallel sandstone slabs while measuring the differential pressure and fluid flow rate across the proppant pack. By inputting this data into Darcy’s law, proppant conductivity can be deduced. The sandstone slabs, driven by a hydraulic press, impose a closure stress, mimicking the rock compressive stress in the reservoir.
